One team that knows nonprofit numbers inside and out.

Year after year we prepare nonprofit tax returns and perform nonprofit audits, reviews and agreed-upon procedures. That experience shapes every engagement, including our accounting services, where we keep books the way auditors and the IRS expect to read them.

Fewer audit surprises.

Restricted contributions, grant revenue and functional expenses recorded the way auditors expect to see them.

A cleaner Form 990.

Year-end records that tie directly to your return and state filings.

Board-ready reporting.

Financial statements your board, grantors and donors can trust.

Independence note: we do not perform audit or attestation work for our accounting clients. If we are your accounting team, we prepare you for and coordinate with your independent auditor.

Real people with life-changing results

“The Sacramento District Dental Society and its Foundation wholeheartedly endorse and recommend Rood & Dinis for their CPA/Accounting services! They have been our CPA firm since 1993, having been hired to ‘fix a sticky situation.’ They worked with the IRS to argue and abate penalties for late filing of income returns and recommended and rectified procedures and policies to move us forward. Rood & Dinis has our best interests in view, provides advice and suggestions for best practices and continues to serve us well.”

“I have worked with Rood & Dinis for 21 years and can highly recommend their services as they have an excellent understanding of nonprofit reporting, compliance, and business issues and because they communicate complicated concepts in simple terms I can understand. I am confident they understand both the big picture view and the small details of the nonprofit organizations I represent.”

Frequently asked questions

Have a question that isn't answered here? Contact our team.

Can one firm handle our accounting, tax and audit?

–

We can provide accounting and tax services together. Independence rules don't allow us to perform audit or attestation work for our accounting clients, so if you need an audit we'll help you decide which services we provide and coordinate with an independent firm for the rest.

What types of nonprofits do you work with?

–

We serve organizations under code sections 501(c)(3), 501(c)(5) and 501(c)(6), including charities, trade associations, labor and agricultural organizations and professional societies.

Where do you work?

–

We specialize in California nonprofits and serve organizations throughout the state from offices in Sacramento and Folsom, plus a Bay Area virtual office in Palo Alto (in-person meetings by appointment).
