INDIVIDUAL TAX PREPARATION PROCESS
Managing Your Expectations
With an unusual tax season in our midst, we decided to outline our individual income tax preparation process to help streamline this service. Please use the information below as a guide. Questions will arise, but that is okay!
STEP 1
Tax Documents
Begin gathering your documents, including your
- Supporting tax documents (Forms W2, Forms 1099, Brokerage Statements, Business P&L, etc.)
- Read and acknowledge your engagement letter (if not received in the mail, we can provide)
- Complete your organizer (if not received in the mail, we can provide)
STEP 2
Return Documents
Once all of your tax documents are ready, please select the easiest option below:
- Mail to 715 University Avenue
- Drop off in mail slot near front entrance at 715 University Avenue
- Email your documents to a staff member (if you would like to send them securely, please email us for a link to upload your documents)
STEP 3
Appointments, if desired
As much as we would like to see you in person, we are urging clients to connect with us via teleconference or videoconference. Your safety is a priority.
Please email or call with convenient dates and times to set up an appointment.
Videoconferences will be held with Microsoft Teams.
STEP 5
Client Approval
Copies of your completed individual income tax returns will be sent according to your preferences. Before filing, you should first:
- Review the returns for errors and omissions
- Sign the federal and state (if any) e-file authorization forms included in the 'Action Required' PDF, or in the left side of your tax return portfolio.
- Return the signed e-file authorization forms to us by email, mail or drop off (copies are fine).
STEP 6
Completion
Upon receipt of your e-file authorizations, we will handle the tax return filing.
Original tax return documents will be returned to you.
